About the Speaker

Kim Heldman is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) and the author of  the best-selling PMP Project Management Professional Study Guide. The Study Guide is in its fourth revision and has helped thousands of readers study for and pass the Project Management Professional exam administered by the Project Management Institute (PMI).

Kim holds a Masters Degree from Regis University. She has been a certified Project Management Professional since 2001 and has over 17 years of experience managing information technology projects. She is employed full time as the Chief Information Officer for the Colorado Department of Transportation and lives with her family in Colorado.

 
About the Presentations
Springfield:
This evening’s topic is titled, “Implementing and Maturing the PMO.” Kim will talk about the steps she took at the State of Colorado to set up a PMO in her department and to establish a statewide Project Management Users Group. The majority of this presentation will focus on maturing the established PMO including a discussion of the evolutionary stages of a PMO, the PMO maturity model, and how to move your PMO to the next level.

Bloomington:

This evening’s topic is titled, “Overcoming Resistance to a New PMO.” Kim will talk about the benefits of implementing a project management office and the steps she took at the State of Colorado to set up a PMO in her department and to establish a statewide Project Management Users Group. She’ll spend a large portion of the presentation discussing resistance to the PMO and techniques you can use to help overcome that resistance.
